Yeah, the between song banter needed subtitles. I understood his telling of the story about the crack in his sock, but that was about it.
Did anybody else find him trying for about 30 seconds to put the mike stand back together to be reminiscent of Ozzy pouring the orange juice in Decline of Western Civ II?

Absolutely! He's an absolutely generous performer. You look at pictures of him, and he's so rough looking. I was pre-pared for something really tragic to appear. But he was such an old-school performer. He never lost focus. He brought it completely. I could not understand 80% of what he said, but the parts where he was thanking the audience I heard. It seemed really sincere...coming from a guy who looked like he could possibly die at any moment. I was touched. Really. It actually made me think about a bunch of mainstream performers that are famous for being personally generous to their audiences. People like Liza Minelli and Diana Ross, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Jackson. I totally thought he was on that level. And you wouldn't expect it, but he wasn't as tragic as Ozzy.
Such an awesome fucking show. I want to go again. |
